Goals for the Week 3/1 - 4/11/10

I think I went about half and half on my goals for last week. I get paid once a month, which means I tend to go on a spending spree around the first with regards to ebooks - and that tends to lead to reading binges...

Writing: I've got the revisions for Chapter 1 of HPC done, and I'm hoping that ch. 2 will go a little more quickly. The new plot lines are starting to flow more easily, the subplots are falling into place, and while I'm still a bit nervous that I'll come up short on final word count, I'm going to just follow it through and see where I end up when it's done. So far, I really like how it's shaping up. And I think my beta readers are going to be very impressed with the changes I've made for the heroine.

Business: I finished the questionnaire for the blog interview (which will be May 6th), and that's about it. I've been thinking/reading a lot about self-publishing lately, and while I still want to submit HPC to traditional publishers, I'm slowly starting to realize that in this changing publishing landscape, I may not have to rely solely on traditional publishing to build a writing career. I'm starting to think that a mixture of traditional and self-publishing might be the best way to create positive cash-flow for myself - even if it's just supplemental to my day job. With that in mind, I'm going to adjust both my writing goals and my publication goals accordingly...more on that as I work it all out.

Personal: Workouts continue to allude me - though I did actually get one in last week. Laundry ended up being only essentials, and I did get a few journal entries in, so that's good. The tomatoes still need repotting too...

Weekly Goals

Writing
- Complete HPC revisions for Ch. 2 and start on Ch. 3
- Ch. 14 of Indelibly Inked
- Read through "Tempest" draft to prep for editing.

Business (publication/branding)
- Compile a list of potential agents/publishers for HPC
- Download formatting guides for Smashwords and Kindle ebooks
- Write guest post

Personal
- 3 workouts for the week
- Catch up laundry
- Do taxes
- Pot up tomato plants/start marigold & cucumber seeds
- Journal every other day or so.

That's what I'm up to this week - what's going on in your world? Read any good books lately?

Oo might want to put taxes on the top of the list.

I'm with you on catching up with laundry! My husband and I managed to use all but one set of sheets as box padding.

I hope you have a great week!

Taxes first?! But they're not due until the 15th! LOL

I'm pretty behind on laundry, but I bet you've got me way beat, just moving and all. Good luck with the rest of your unpacking!

Wow, you've got some great goals. I think my goal is to write down my goals. Maybe I'll get to that...

    Good luck this week!

Good luck with your own goals - written or "ethereal".

I have a friend who self-publishes and she wouldn't have it any other way.

Good looking goals, have a great week!

Thanks Carol! I'm still going after the trad. publishing...mostly because I want the credibility in the writing community, but year, more and more, I lean toward self-pubbing. Who's your friend? Web site? Link? Titles? LOL
